Social Media Policy
I do not accept friend requests from current or former clients on any of my personal social media accounts. My reasons for this include the belief that adding clients as friends on these sites can compromise confidentiality and blur the boundaries of the working relationship.
Please feel free to follow my business accounts on LinkedIn and Facebook.
Please note that I will not contact you, and will not respond to messages from you, on social media. These sites are not secure and I may not read your messages in a timely fashion. If you need to contact me, please email me at (insert email here) or use the system outlined in your initial session.
Confidentially
Is everything kept confidential and what is your privacy policy?
As a registered social worker (RSW), I follow and am bound by the strict guidelines of the Ontario Association of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
My practice is bound by the Personal Health Information Privacy Act (PHIPA). Please note that while I take every precaution to protect digital communication, emails cannot be guaranteed to be secure. Any sensitive information should be shared with me during our sessions.
There are limits to confidentially and it may be broken under these conditions:
- Should I become aware of a child under 18 years being abused or neglected or at risk of abuse;
- Should I consider you a serious risk of self-harm or harm to someone else;
- Should there be a subpoena for records or testimony through legal channels.
